Repetitive music and sound effects Faith Plates are loud and get annoying with repetition. The sound design in general could use some work imo. Though they try to go for the same type of humour as the main franchise it's fails to connect or surprise. Expect tiny changes to have huge consequences at times, which can be frustrating. 10$ for about 20 hours of fun is perfect. + Not too short and not too long to become boring. If you don't change anything every run will nearly always stay the same. + Though physics-based it's impressively consistent. The theme fits this type of game really well, unsurprisingly. + The implementation of the gimmicks from the main series of games is done great. I still recommend playing in short bursts though. + Creative level design prevents it from becoming stale. + Starts of super easy and ends up really difficult. Looks great, the physics are smooth and the whole is nearly bugless as far as I can tell. If you've done a bridge-contructor game before then you know what to expect but now with some iconic Portal-gimmicks thrown in like "Aerial Faith Plates", "Repulsion Gel" and the titular Portals. I would tough through it if they had the same actress/writers from the Portal games but this game clearly does not.Ī neat little puzzle-type game. After too many of these maps I just said forget this and can't in good conscience recommend this game. However implementing it is a guessing game, try over and over to find the perfect angle to make it happen, even though the solution of what should happen is clear as day. You know instantly upon seeing the level what must be done. Often times bridges have to be placed just SO so that a bouncing orb will deflect off of them at a perfect angle, triggering an event. There's often only one logical way to solve a puzzle which limits the creativity on many maps. This has very little of the features of a true Bridge Constructor title, limited to only a couple bridge material types and very limited space. This has very little of the fun dialogue and none of the exploration/clever experimentation that made Portal great. I enjoyed all of the other Bridge Constructor games (100% on 3 of them) and both Portal games.
